Bring DEVCON to your city

No DEVCON in your city yet? Invite us.

Every DEVCON chapter starts the same way: a DEVCON speaker paying it forward at a free event in your community.

Trusted by community leaders as the local gold standard for tech programs and implementation, DEVCON works with schools, companies, local governments, and tech groups to bring programs to their community, for kids and youth, students, and builders, or to connect them with other tech communities who can help.

Volunteer-ledDEVCON is a volunteer tech community, not an events company. Our speakers are volunteers who share their time and expertise for free to pay it forward. As such, we can’t accept every invitation: what we can take on depends on our volunteer leaders’ capacity, partner resources, and strategic national priorities.

Host checklist

Our speakers are volunteers. Hosting comes with a few responsibilities.

DEVCON speakers are volunteers and are never paid for their time. As a courtesy to them, the host provides each item below, or identifies a partner who can.

For our volunteer speakers

  • TransportationRound trip to and from the venue
  • MealsDuring the event and on travel days
  • AccommodationsFor out-of-town speakers, as applicable
  • Token of appreciationA simple thank-you for their time

For the event

  • Venue and dateSeats for your audience and a confirmed schedule
  • Screen and soundProjector or display, speakers, and microphones
  • Internet and powerReliable Wi-Fi and outlets at the stage and tables
  • Your audienceRegistration, promotion, and a target headcount
  • Water and snacksFor participants, especially for full-day programs
  • A contact personOne host lead on the day, reachable by phone
  • Consent for photosFrom participants, plus parental consent when minors attend

Who covers speaker costs? Each active chapter covers its entire province. If your province has no active DEVCON chapter, the host covers the volunteer speakers’ costs. Provinces with a volunteer community but no active chapter are treated as not covered for now. See which provinces are covered.

Every item needs an owner, you or a partner, before we can confirm. This is required outside our chapter provinces: as a volunteer-led non-profit, host support keeps programs free for participants and sustainable for our volunteers. Events with minors follow our Child Protection Policy.

We can connect you to other tech communities

As open-source champions, we work with tech communities across the country, not just our own chapters. Tell us what your audience needs, and we can introduce you to groups and organizers who can help, from AI and cloud to design and data.

How it works

From one event to a local chapter

  1. Start your invite

Email your invitation to hello@devcon.ph with your city, organization, contact person, and what you can cover for our volunteer speakers. Your first DEVCON event is a free talk from a speaker paying it forward.

  2. Meet our chapters team

We match you with the nearest chapter, the right program, or another tech community that fits.

  3. Co-plan your first event

Pick a date, a venue, and an audience. We bring the program and volunteer speakers; you cover their transportation, meals, a token of appreciation, and accommodations (as applicable).

  4. Grow your community

Keep the momentum as a volunteer community, then apply to become a chapter.

Chapter application requirements

Limited capacity as a volunteer community. We can only support so many chapters well, so we approve new chapters carefully and review every chapter each year. To date, we have not renewed a total of 4 chapters for non-compliance and inactivity. We will always prioritize quality over quantity, of both events and impact.
